Reviews & Testimonials

I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip to Rockfig Madikwe. This trip was a dream come true. The safaris every morning and evening were especially exciting. Our guide, named Honest, was extremely knowledgeable and committed to giving us the best possible safari experience. We saw lions and leopards and elephants and giraffes. Perfect! The villas were beautifully furnished, filled with light, spacious and comfortable. I believe there are only four villas on the property, so we definitely had the sense of having the entire property to ourselves most of the time. The staff could not have been nicer. Everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable. Sarika was very warm and welcoming. And the food was superb. Every meal was like in a fancy expensive restaurant. We enjoyed wine or cocktails on our deck every night. I can’t wait to go back to Rockfig.

We loved the lodge. Every member of the team took excellent care of us. Thank you Honest, Chef Morris, Richard and Ivy. Our game drives were great and Honest ensure we got to see all the animals on our short list; even the Wild Dog. Amarula Coffee on the morning drives was a great way to start the day😜. The meals were exquisite and Ivy ensured that we did not need anything! We appreciated the special treat of Chef Morris and Richard coming to our unit to prepare our meals. A fire in our boma ready for when we arrived. We will definitely be back.

The food (Sylvester prepared some of the best meals I had in the last year since we live in S-A), the ranger (Honesty was very knowledgable & nice person to have around), the service (Pauline & the rest of the Team with an ever-friendly smile). And not to forget: “The Hide”… 3 herds of elefants (+50) coming for a drink at the waterhole at noon!

Heritage

Andrew Walker’s love of the bush and his insatiable desire to share it with friends and family led to him founding Rockfig Lodge over 20 years ago. After acquiring a lease in Madikwe game reserve in 2000, he built his own home away from home, Inkwe family house. This soon became home to regular cherished family holidays.

In 2013, Andrew set about creating a private commercial lodge. Andrew never did things in half measures and true to form he built the most beautiful guest Villas and central entertainment area. Rockfig officially opened in 2019.

Andrew sadly passed away in 2021, but the family continue to keep his pioneering passion alive through the lodge.
His desire to create an environment which offers guests a unique and immersive safari experience is realised through each and every visitor who walks through our doors. Our team take great pride in continuing to share his love of the untamed bush and abundant wildlife. To date Rockfig lodge has been one of the most popular lodges in the area amongst both local and overseas guests, receiving numerous outstanding reviews.

Rockfig lodge is named after a beautiful Rock fig tree that grows on the magical cliff overlooking Madikwe hills, our logo represents this special tree. Guests can experience this amazing cliff and majestic tree whilst enjoying our speciality High Tea or Sundowners from our private cliff lookout point.
